REFLECTION: 2ND GRADING PERIOD

Sabado, Oktubre 22, 2011

Honestly, I have many discoveries and learning this grading period. I learned how to use the notepad and how to make a web page. I also learned how to use tags and apply it on paragraphs and texts basically. And as of now, I am getting advanced on it. And in my blog, I have also discovered something, just like putting background on it. Last time, my blog was so simple and theirs is no background but now, I am ahead of it and it improved a bit this time.
The main problem in this grading period is the tags and putting/applying it. I found out that it is quite hard to locate those tags and to memorize the sequence. And also, putting an end tag on my work. Sometimes I forgot to insert an end tag or I forgot to put a slash in it. That commonly makes my mistakes as it appear in the webpage.
I addressed these problems by the help of my classmates specially my teacher. As I make mistakes and I could not find the error, they are the one whom I seek for help. But most of the time, if I make mistake, my teacher is the one who immediately recognize those mistakes.
Moving on, I will be careful in inserting tags and I will be always remembering that if there’s and end tag; I will be putting it with slash. Again, that commonly makes my mistake. And, I will review my notes so that I will be able to memorize the sequence of the tags.

Promoting English Proficiency through Digital Literacy

English is the linguistic engine that drives the global economy. If you look at the most important communications and transportation innovations in the last 150 years, nearly all of them were invented by English speakers, so their documentation was in English. The others were either invented by people working in English-speaking countries or were later widely disseminated by English-speaking innovators. English has been the sole linguistic engine driving this process. Therefore, in order to truly participate in globalization and the global economy, English is absolutely critical.
Digital literacy encompasses computer hardware, software, cell phones and other digital devices.  Schools are continually updating their curriculum for digital literacy to keep up with accelerating technological developments. This often includes computers in the classroom, the use of educational software to teach curriculum, and course materials being available to students, online. And when we talk about English and its proficiency, this is an important tool to improve. Because, when we talk about digital literacy, we are not just talking about computers, modernization and innovation, we are also talking about its effect on us, on our education and most of all, on our proficiency in English.
